DACHSER takes part in exhibition on child labour
Despite the achievements of the enlightenment and the age of humanism, child labour is still widespread in many parts of the world today. The causes, forms and consequences of this phenomenon are now the subject of a terre des hommes (tdh) exhibition, in which DACHSER is also taking part. The logistics company has been supporting the aid organization in its project work in India for two years now.
As the title – “Child labour then and now” – shows, the exhibition deals with the exploitation of children. It focuses on both the past and the present.
The main part of the exhibition consists of a travelling display organized by the Museum of Industrial Culture in Osnabrück, which is concerned with the causes and consequences of child labour. In addition, the exhibition features two special themes. A local section created by the Kempten cultural office describes the life of “farm labourer children” in the Allgäu region in days gone by. And DACHSER presents an aid project in the Uttar Pradesh region of India. Since 1 July 2005, the logistics company has been working alongside terre des hommes to promote the education and training of children and young people in the region. The project goal is to improve people’s living conditions and long-term prospects for the future in that part of the world on a long-term basis.
The exhibition takes place from 30 September to 28 October in the “Hofgartensaal” of the Kempten Residenz castle. It will be open from 12 pm to 5 pm on Monday to Friday, and from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. School classes are welcome to visit the exhibition between 9 and 12 am after prior notification. Guided tours are available on request. Admission is free.
