A successful appearance at transport logistic
The transport logistic trade fair, the key European exhibition for logistics, telematics and transport, took place in Munich from 12 to 15 June. On a stand measuring 718 square metres, a Dachser team comprising some 70 members welcomed visitors to the event.
The guests really enjoyed the informative yet relaxed atmosphere on the stand.
Most attention was focused on the centre of the stand, where the company’s integrated portfolio of services was presented via a group of six islands which rotated around the visitors. Alongside the three DACHSER divisions – Air and Sea Logistics, European Logistics and Food Logistics – the stand also featured the Contract Logistics and IT units, as well as Dachser’s industry solutions, DIY Logistics and Chem-Logistics.
Experts take part in the accompanying programme
An attractive stand manned by a highly motivated team was not DACHSER’s only impressive contribution to transport logistic. The logistics provider also played an active part in the fair’s accompanying programme.
In a series of forums, experts from the various divisions provided information on general and specific trends in the world of logistics, making the event especially interesting for the visitors.
The “Lebensmittelzeitung” food magazine organized a panel discussion on the subject of “New concepts in the food logistics supply chain”. Stefan Krautwurst-Leister, the head of sales at DACHSER Food Logistics, talked on the wide range of possibilities the Food Logistics division offers in designing efficient supply chains.
Bernhard Simon gave a contribution at a panel discussion organized by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs on the importance of the human factor in the business world. Under the title “The loyalty spiral as the basis of innovative and intelligent logistics” he provided interesting insights into DACHSER, the family-owned company.
The Federal Logistics Association (BVL), meanwhile, focused on a market that has only recently become important for German logistics providers: India. Since the beginning of this year, DACHSER has been involved in a joint venture with its long-standing partner AFL, which has a network of 35 branches in India. Detlef Janik, the CEO of AFL DACHSER, and Thomas Reuter, managing director of DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics, took a detailed look at the ways in which efficient logistics solutions can be best used to tap the growing market opportunities offered in India.

Guest politicians
At transport logistic, DACHSER did not only attract trade visitors and journalists to its stand: it was also popular with politicians. In connection with the panel event organized by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Economics Minister Erwin Huber came to talk to people on the DACHSER stand.
Looking around the stand, Huber found out about a number of new services presented at the fair, such as the DACHSER Chem-Logistics industry solution. He was particularly interested in the innovative RFID technology that DACHSER presented in exemplary form on the Contract Logistics island.

Dachser employee meets Thomas Gottschalk
The last day of the fair was very much dominated by show business – and once again, DACHSER was the centre of attention. For some weeks, the German logistics newspaper DVZ had been working alongside the popular TV challenge show “Wetten Dass..?” and DHL to come up with the best challenge from the world of logistics. In the end, the winner was Michael Proissl from DACHSER Mannheim.
His idea was: “Do you want to bet that I can shoot a billiard ball with a cue from a billiard table on an 11-metre high shelf, over a second high shelf and into a bucket with a diameter of 35 centimetres?”
The audience loved the idea of this challenge. And so, too, did the show’s famous host – Thomas Gottschalk – who awarded Proissl the first prize.
After a tough but exciting week, the Dachser exhibition team was very pleased with what it had achieved during its presence at the fair.
