Grzegorz Lichocik, the new country manager at DACHSER Poland, answers three questions
“We aim to become one of the most highly efficient players in Poland, and to gear our sales activities to small and medium-sized companies,” says Grzegorz Lichocik. Since October, the 43-year-old has been the head of DACHSER Poland. In a brief interview he describes his tasks in his new job, and outlines the goals he has set for himself and the national company.
What does a logistics provider in Poland have to do to prove successful?
Lichocik: The most important thing in the Polish logistics market is quality. There is simply no point in getting embroiled in price competition. Unlike most of its rivals, DACHSER uses uniform systems and standardized processes in both its national and international transport services. And that really shows in the level of quality. Apart from that, more and more customers nowadays are demanding Tracking & Tracing throughout Europe – from information in realtime all the way through to proactive Supply Chain Event Management, such as we offer with our Active Report system. I believe that DACHSER has a genuine competitive edge here. We therefore aim to become one of the most highly efficient players in Poland, and to gear our sales activities above all to small and medium-sized companies.

What is it that motivates you above all in your new job as country manager at DACHSER Poland?
Lichocik: I have 13 years of experience in the logistics industry, and I know the business and the local market inside out. I am just as familiar with sales issues as I am with the development of warehousing solutions or the establishment of logistics networks. So it’s a real challenge for me to forge ahead with the development of DACHSER’s Polish network, and to further cement the company’s position in our country.

How do you assess the Polish logistics market and the competitive situation?
Lichocik: In Poland, there are not all that many companies that specialize in groupage activities or Cross Docking, since these activities require high levels of investment. DACHSER’s customers in Poland really appreciate our European network and our innovative IT solutions. Using these sales arguments, we also aim to acquire new groups of customers.
