There’s no stopping them – In the fast lane with DACHSER Transport of America
With a gross domestic product of some USD 13.5 trillion, the United States of America is the world’s largest economy, ahead of Japan, Germany and the People’s Republic of China. DACHSER is already represented by nine air and sea freight offices in this crucial market, and is constantly expanding its activities there.
DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics is set to expand further in the USA, a country with a population of 301 million. Having already entered into a joint venture with India’s market leader, AFL, in February of this year, DACHSER set a further milestone in March. The company took over AFT, a representative of AFL in North America. Since April 2007, AFT has been trading under the name of “DACHSER Transport of America”. AFT offers highly professional services for industry and retailers in and with India and the USA. “We want to offer our customers ideal logistics conditions for trading with and in India. That’s why we are helping them to reach the Indian sales market more quickly, or to optimize their procurement there,” says Frank Guenzerodt, DACHSER’s national manager in the USA.
DACHSER USA’s services include air and sea freight operations, logistics solutions, warehousing, and the USA-wide distribution of consignments. DACHSER USA is a licensed customs broker, which enables it to handle customs clearance of goods for its customers at all American ports and airports. On top of that, DACHSER USA is certificated in accordance with the C-TPAT system (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism). This voluntary partnership scheme is designed to increase the safety of supply chains, relating exclusively to imports into the USA. The certificate is awarded by the US customs authorities.
Alongside Asia, the European countries play a particularly important role for the USA in terms of imports and exports. In addition to distribution, DACHSER offers its American customers on-the-spot European warehousing services. The company is also in the process of building up warehouse capacities in the USA. This enables American customers to offer their clients in the USA even better services.
DACHSER is constantly growing in the USA, and has trebled its business volume in the past three years. The Chicago branch has, therefore, recently moved to a new logistics centre, which will enable it to continue to offer top-class services for its growing customer base. The new centre also makes logistics services such as warehousing and order processing possible for European or Asian customers who wish to reach their American sales markets as quickly as possible.
To enable it to control global goods flows even more efficiently, DACHSER USA has recently extended its weekly sea freight consolidation services from India and China to all the USA’s key industrial centres. Of course, DACHSER also offers consolidation services from and to Germany and Europe.
And DACHSER’s operations in the USA are set to expand further. More new offices will be opening in the next few years, making the coverage of the USA even more extensive.
