On the move in Maghreb with your goods: Our Graveleau subsidiary

For markets beyond the borders of Europe: DACHSER Cargoplus

DACHSER is well-known for its strong pan-European network for groupage transport services. But that’s not all the company provides. DACHSER Cargoplus offers extensive solutions for markets that cannot be reached via the classical DACHSER European groupage network.

In 2006 DACHSER consolidated its expertise in pan-European charter business under the name “Cargoplus”. From its Memmingen office, Cargoplus has since been responsible for organizing load services throughout Europe. At the same time, Cargoplus offers transport solutions for markets beyond Europe’s borders: the CIS states and Maghreb.

DACHSER Cargoplus conquers new markets

In the space of a single year, Cargoplus developed very strongly, and began to offer a new service in the autumn of 2007: automotive supply transport from and to Tunisia. On behalf of a major Bavarian automotive supplier, Cargoplus launched four weekly large-vehicle services between southern Germany and Tunisia in September 2007, and has since been transporting pre-products to the Tunisian port of Sousse. The finished products are then shipped to two facilities operated by the same customer in southern Germany.

The scheduling of these services is a rather tricky business. The finished products are distributed to the big car factories as soon as they reach German soil. Once they arrive there, they are moved straight to the assembly lines. Rapid reaction is necessary if there are any delays in the process. For example, if there is a risk that a driver might exceed his permitted driving times because of traffic congestion, a new driver has to be found immediately. Where ships reach the port later than scheduled, loads may have to be delivered to their final destinations using specially arranged tours. Cargoplus responds swiftly and flexibly to any unexpected changes to schedules.

Test phase successfully completed

After the Cargoplus services functioned to the full satisfaction of their customers in the period up to the end of 2007, the volume was subsequently raised to ten trucks per week between Germany and Tunisia. And that’s not all. Cargoplus now also handles transport between Tunisia and other manufacturing facilities in Slovakia and Poland – up to four trucks per week in a one-way system.
