Building projects across Europe

From the North Sea coast to the Transdanubia region – the many building projects underway at Dachser’s European branches provide physical evidence of the international growth of the company’s European Logistics segment.

At some European DACHSER branches, 2008 has got underway with a real change of scenery: In five different countries, branches (in some cases several of them) will be moving into new buildings between January and May, launching an entire series of construction projects that are due for completion during 2008. The new facilities have been necessitated by the fact that the branches are reaching the limits of their capacity, and now need more warehouse space, more gates and updated technical equipment. The new construction projects show how successfully DACHSER is pursuing its goal of becoming the world’s best provider of European logistics.

Denmark

Kolding: A new branch created in mid-January through the merger of four existing branches.

The Danish DACHSER branch in Kolding moved to a new location in January 2008, increasing both its size and its levels of efficiency. The previous four branches spread around Kolding have now been brought together on a single site. This enables the company to further develop its logistics services in Denmark and to grow more strongly. The move will also create new jobs.

Germany

New building in Hof (May), expansion of the Landsberg branch (March).

The expansion of the existing facility in Landsberg is now nearing completion. Almost three times as much space will then be available for the transshipment of foodstuffs than was on hand previously. The dry goods transshipment area has also virtually doubled in size. The dimensions of the new building in Hof are truly impressive. In May 2008, the branch will be moving into new office, warehouse and transshipment facilities with 163 gates on a site covering more than 27,000 square metres. The location is also ideal. The Hof Töpen A72 motorway access road is just 4.5 kilometres away.

Austria

New buildings go into operation in Hoersching and Himberg (February).

DACHSER Austria moved into two new buildings in February 2008: in Hoersching near Linz and Himberg near Vienna. Both branches are ideally situated from the transport point of view and cater for the increased demand for space, with 7,800 and 7,200 square metres respectively. The Austrians are well prepared for further growth: both new facilities have capacity for additional warehouse and truck parking areas.

Hungary

New buildings now occupied in Pècs (January) and Zalaegerszeg (February).

The two branches in Pècs and Zalaegerszeg are located 120 kilometres and 40 kilometres respectively from Lake Balaton. They serve the Hungarian regions of South and West Transdanubia. In Zalaegerszeg the move has taken place to modernize the facilities and secure ideal connections with one of the country’s central motorways (the M7). The site offers 670 square metres of warehouse space and 6 gates. Pècs, meanwhile, will in future have a warehouse area of 1,081 square metres.
