New dangerous goods warehouse opened in Überherrn
The new dangerous goods warehouse at the DACHSER Überherrn logistics centre has one particular advantage: it is located close to the EURO-HUB, with daily connections to destinations throughout Europe.
At the Überherrn logistics centre, which covers an area of 13,550 square metres and offers 30,500 pallet spaces, a new dangerous goods warehouse went into operation in February 2008. The modern dangerous goods facility is operated on the basis of a permit issued under § 13 of the German operational safety directive (BetrSichV) and provides 6,000 pallet spaces in an area covering 3,100 square metres. The facility can be used to store materials classified as water hazard class 2 substances under German legislation, corrosive materials, inflammable and highly inflammable substances, and pressurized gas containers. State-of-the-art safety precautions are in place, and include an automatic fire extinguisher system, a gas alarm system, gas leak sensors, and product and firewater retention facilities.
When it comes to handling dangerous goods, the Überherrn location – just like all other DACHSER branches – benefits from the know-how and the high safety standards which exist throughout the company as a whole. DACHSER has decades of experience in handling dangerous goods, and each year transports some 1.4 million dangerous goods consignments in its European network and its load activities. DACHSER’s own dangerous goods guidelines are in place for all the company’s European branches – on top of the statutory requirements – and set out specially developed internal safety regulations. Several times a year, staff who work with and carry responsibility for dangerous goods in the warehouse and transshipment facility undergo training in handling hazardous materials.
The DACHSER EURO-HUB offers ideal connections with the European market, minimizing the loading frequency of goods. This reduces the risk of damage, a process which is also supported by controlled dangerous goods loading and pro-active quality monitoring.
