Bonn roundtable and DACHSER Food Logistics at the Air Cargo Center Frankfurt
The so-called “Bonner Runde der Lebensmittel-Logistik” roundtable on food logistics organized by the German BWVL industrial association met on 7 April to discuss a number of issues, including the administrative processes involved in delivery note handling, developments in packaging materials management, and advice note procedures.
Comprising some 40 members, the group came together under the chairmanship of DACHSER Food Logistics at the DACHSER Air Cargo Center Frankfurt/Main to debate current themes in the field of food logistics.
One event in the programme was a tour of the Perishables Center at Frankfurt Airport, where the participants were able to see for themselves how handling processes – for goods ranging from fresh herbs from Israel to horse meat from Canada – are managed. The use of 18 different temperature zones and the provision of customs and veterinary checks proved to be of particular interest.
The fourth Bonn roundtable for top-level decision-makers in the food logistics industry will take place at the end of 2008 and will focus on the retail sector.

The so-called “Bonner Runde der Lebensmittel-Logistik” roundtable on food logistics is a working group initiated by the German BWVL industrial association and DACHSER Food Logistics. It focuses exclusively on issues relating to food logistics and meets twice a year. Set up at the beginning of 2007, the roundtable is intended to serve as a forum to facilitate the exchange of views and experience, and to support the lobbying of politicians. Almost 40 top decision-makers from food and logistics companies are currently involved in the forum.
Those interested in taking part in the 4th Bonn roundtable, which is scheduled for the end of 2008 and will focus on the subject of retailing, can register for this event by sending an e-mail to info@bwvl.de or foodlogistics@DACHSER.com (no forms required).
