Returns logistics with DACHSER
Soda-Club and DACHSER have cooperated closely since early 2004. For the soda maker manufacturer, DACHSER supervises distribution to consignees in Germany as well as returned goods management.
Soda-Club has a pioneering role worldwide for its eco-friendly range of soda makers and bottles, CO2 carbonators and soda-mix syrups. In Germany alone, using a Soda-Club soda maker helps to prevent the unnecessary production and transport of nine billion mineral water bottles.
Soda-Club soda makers put fizz into tap water. The carbonators are reusable and therefore drastically reduce waste from non-returnable plastic bottles which take 450 years to fully decompose.
Soda-Club appreciates DACHSER’s strengths in distribution and procurement logistics as well as its European scheduled groupage network, which make the company a reliable and valued partner. Activities for this customer are handled by DACHSER’s Koblenz branch.
Before 12 pm every day, DACHSER provides Soda-Club in Limburg with the required number of swap bodies for loading. After loading is completed, Soda-Club transmits the consolidated shipment data via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). These are entered in DACHSER’s DOMINO system and forwarded to the Koblenz branch via DACHSER’s head office in Kempten. Soda-Club can view and trace the respective shipment in real time on the Internet at any point in the process, permitting a gap-free and transparent shipment process at parcel level – parallel to the physical process in the logistics network.
Returns orders are placed with DACHSER by written order, collected immediately and returned to Soda-Club. Here, too, Soda-Club has the possibility to track and trace the returns orders via the Internet. The responsible DACHSER branch collects the empty carbonators from the retail outlets and sends them centrally to DACHSER’s Koblenz branch, from where they are returned to Soda-Club. Delivery obstacles are reported to Soda-Club immediately via the Active Report Supply Chain Event Management tool, enabling problems to be processed and rectified as quickly as possible.
In order to improve quality and optimize processes, DACHSER prepares monthly reports. These list and evaluate all distribution shipments from Limburg as well as all returns. This customer report is automatically generated in the DACHSER system and presented to Soda-Club at the latest by the tenth working day of the following month.
In May 2008, Soda-Club and DACHSER conducted the biggest nationwide “New for Old” campaign across Germany. Owners of older soda makers were invited to take their devices to any Real supermarket and exchange them for a brand new model for an additional charge of only 15 euros.
