Since November 2006, the DACHSER eLetter is an informational service for existing and potential customers of DACHSER.

What do readers think of the DACHSER eLetter

In our 03/2008 edition, we conducted a reader survey on our electronic newsletter. Some 330 subscribers responded, enabling us to form a general idea of the level of reader satisfaction. The results were very positive.

Contents of the newsletter
Almost all readers felt the length of the newsletter was just right, and if anything would welcome even more contents in each issue. The subdivision according to business segments (e.g. European Logistics, Food Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics) was seen by the majority of readers as meaningful and logical. Over 90% of respondents rated the clarity of the texts as good or very good. The information content and news value were considered generally good or very good by approx. 85%. Around 80% were satisfied or very satisfied with the contents in detail.

Rhythm/frequency of the newsletter
Around 80 percent of subscribers were satisfied with the current rhythm of 4 to 6 newsletters a year. Of the remaining 20%, the majority would like to see a higher frequency.

Reading habits
Over half of the subscribers who responded open all of the eLetters; of the remainder, the majority open most of them. Most respondents read on average 1 to 5 articles, another big group 5 to 10 articles. Approximately 70 percent of the readers who replied are able to get the gist of what the article is about from reading the leader; for the remainder this is sometimes the case. Around 85% generally find the subject matter they read before opening the e-mail appealing to OK. 50% spend between 5 and 10 minutes reading the newsletter, over 30% even longer.

Layout of the newsletter
The overall layout of the eLetter is rated as satisfactory or very satisfactory by almost 90% of respondents. Around 85% are happy with the clarity/legibility of the articles. The images received a good or very good from approx. 75% and an OK from over 20%.

Functionality/technical functions of the newsletter
85% of the users who responded got on well or very well with the technical functionality, with over 80% immediately able to find what they are looking for.

Overall satisfaction
The newsletter was rated as good to very good overall by around 90% of respondents. Users consider the brief, up-to-date insights into the company and the industry, background logistics information, examples of logistics solutions and tips to be the main benefits of the eLetter. We therefore intend in future to focus even more on providing useful links, practical documents, detailed information, insider tips, trends, expert opinions, customer stories, regional information and images.

Miscellaneous
Approximately 85% have already recommended the eLetter at least once. About half save the eLetter. The majority of respondents leave the eLetter in their in-tray for between 2 days and one week, or even longer. Two thirds of respondents would like to see more links to related articles. The majority rated the linking of topics to more in-depth articles in the DACHSER magazine as good.
