90 staff members at three Russian locations ensure smooth handling of goods flows.

One year of DACHSER in Russia – Developing a future market

One year after establishing the joint venture in Russia, DACHSER takes stock: the internationally active logistics provider is in the meantime represented at three locations in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhnyj Novgorod. The increase in the number of employees and warehouse space reflects the strong market growth in Russia and the resulting demand for goods from western Europe.

Germany is Russia’s number one trade partner. In Moscow alone, there are around 3,000 agencies, joint ventures and subsidiaries in which German companies hold a stake. In the whole of Russia this figure is around 4,500 companies. From Germany, Russia mainly imports machinery, followed by automotive components, chemical and electronic products, as well as consumer goods. This trend has been on the rise in recent years. The resulting trade relations primarily with western European companies lead to a high demand for services. A year ago, DACHSER responded to this situation by investing in building up its own national company in Russia.

At its three Russian locations, 90 staff members ensure that the entire supply chain is covered from a single source: starting with transport services, through to customs clearance, warehousing, order picking and distribution throughout Russia. Around 14,000 pallet spaces as well as 4,700 square metres of block warehouse space provide excellent preconditions for realizing warehousing projects.

Country manager Anton Maryukhta sees advantages in the country’s geographical position. “Russia is the link between Europe and Asia. As a part of both continents, we build bridges between European countries and the markets in China, South-East Asia and India. We are part of the global DACHSER network. Thanks to these intercontinental connections, we are in a position to offer customers worldwide attractive services and logistics solutions.”

Many German companies see the Russian market as a huge window of opportunity. On the other hand, however, it is not an easy market to penetrate. But with the right partner, there are no risks to fear. “As DACHSER Russia, we are present locally and are au fait with the market specificities,” Anton Maryukhta confirms. “Our specialists respond to individual customer requirements and assist in overcoming administrative red tape.”
