Sustainable growth at Dachser’s head office
Dachser’s head office in Kempten, which currently employs a staff of around 800, has been extended by a new administrative building. For its construction, Dachser met modern demands on eco-friendly buildings with a resource-saving energy concept: to manage the temperature in the offices, the building services engineering concept uses waste heat from the computer centre as well as geothermal energy from the depths of the site. Now 88 earth probes on the greenfield site of the park guarantee agreeable temperatures all year round.
This is what the new energy-saving building looks like.

What is Geothermal Energy?
The temperatures at the earth’s core measure more than 5,000 degrees Celsius. The energy from the bowels of the earth that rises from the earth’s molten core to the surface is known as geothermal energy. Every day, around 2.5 times more energy rises from the centre of the earth than we need to meet the world’s energy requirement. This makes geothermal energy one of the most important energy sources of the future.
