Dachser celebrates 35 years in the Netherlands
In January, Dachser Netherlands B.V. celebrated its 35th anniversary. A success story that is as topical now as it was then: early this year, Dachser introduced cargoplus at its logistics centre in Waddinxveen and more than doubled the available warehouse space there. At Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam, the logistics provider opened a new office.
Dachser opened its first branch in the Netherlands in Zevenaar in the east of the country on 10 January 1975. Demand rapidly grew. More and more customers wanted to work with Dachser – word about the excellent service spread fast and wide. So in 1987 the logistics provider relocated to new premises in Zevenaar with a total area of 4,000 square metres of warehouse space. Dachser still operates this location today.
Success factor Waddinxveen
In order to create new warehousing capacities, provide contract logistics solutions and also improve coverage of the western part of the country, an additional branch was opened in Waddinxveen near Rotterdam in March 2007. Since February, Dachser has operated a 7,300-square-metre transshipment warehouse here and an additional 12,000 square metres of warehouse space. “Since the branch was opened, we have created around 90 new jobs,” says Aat van der Meer, country manager of Dachser European Logistics in the Netherlands.
In January, Dachser Netherlands introduced cargoplus at its Waddinxveen location. Dachser cargoplus specializes in handling pan-European load forwarding services for key accounts and develops individual transport solutions specifically designed for the markets in the CIS and Maghreb countries.

Dachser Air & Sea Logistics
In 2008, Dachser’s Air & Sea Logistics business segment set up the Dachser Netherlands Air & Sea Logistics B.V. joint venture in cooperation with the local logistics provider, Seacon. Since then, Dachser has also handled intercontinental air freight services from its branch at Maastricht Airport. A new office at Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam was opened in January.
