Dachser Food Logistics expands in Langenhagen
Doubling up of transshipment area opens up new possibilities for customers.
Dachser is investing EUR 5.5 million in the expansion of its Langenhagen facility near Hanover. As part of the project, which is scheduled for completion in April 2010, the transshipment area is being almost doubled.
Increasing shipment volumes and a host of new customers – growing demand has stretched capacities in the food logistics transshipment hall at Dachser’s Langenhagen branch to the maximum. In May 2009, construction work therefore began on the more than 2,300-square-metre extension. The new area will be ready for operation from April 2010.
In addition, the existing transshipment hall is getting a complete revamp and being fitted with improved heat insulation and modern bays. A new refrigeration system will ensure highly efficient, environmentally friendly temperature regulation in what will then be almost 5,000 square metres of hall space.
The expansion will not only provide additional transshipment space. 1,500 shelf spaces on an area of 1,500 square metres provide warehousing capacity in the temperature range from 2 to 7 degrees Celsius. Within just one day, this area can be converted into additional transshipment space. Thus in future Dachser Langenhagen will be able to tailor its services portfolio even more flexibly to customer requirements.
